We will need Rabies, Distemper, and Parvovirus. Bordetella is highly recommended but not required any longer. Once you have signed up you will need to provide photos of your dogs vaccinations to the text thread you received your confirmation from (719-735-5963). The photos must be legible and must include the name of the vaccine, date given, and has something with your vets info on it. We do not accept paper copies. The vaccine sticker will NOT be accepted. If it is a handwritten proof by your veterinarian it must have something with the vets info on it. Personal handwritten logs of your dogs vaccines are not accepted. If you do not have a proper vaccine proof contact your vet. They will provide you with official proofs or most will email them to us for you. Your vet can send them to Trudi@MountainPawsTraining.com. If you are signing up for In-Home sessions, the Bordetella vaccine is not required.
We know that your puppy might still be receiving their vaccinations. That is okay. Prime socialization time is from 8-16 weeks and we want to get you started as quickly as possible. If you do not have all of your puppies shots and boosters yet no worries! Just send us copies of what you have so far and as you receive more, simply send us a clear copy of your new shot records. Be sure it includes your vet info, name of vaccines and dates given.
The Puppy Kindergarten class is for young puppies who need socialization and exposure to new and novel things. Prime socialization time is between 8 - 16 weeks so getting your puppy exposed to new things, touch and handling by you and strangers and being exposed to other dogs is very important at this age. Our studio is a clean environment and we do require that all puppies have undergone vet checks and has started their vaccine process. We also offer the S.T.A.R. Puppy program which is for dogs 11 months and younger. However if you are not interested in this program and your puppy is over 6 months old, we recommend your sing up for the Bow Wow Basics class.
The Bow Wow Basics class is more obedience focused and talks less about socialization, because by the time they are 5-6 months old the ability to "socialize" ends. As your puppies get older we work on counter conditioning as they are exposed to new environments, people and dogs. The Bow Wow Basics class does allow for some optional social play at the end of class. This class can be for both puppies 4+ months and adult dogs.
The Mountain Paws Dog Training Studio and all of its trainers practice Positive Reinforcement methods (R+) only. We do not allow choke chains, prong collars, slip leads or shock collars. Aversive training methods are not allowed in our training Studio. We believe in science based methods that build relationships and confidence in dogs. We believe that dogs deserve respect and kindness not physical punishment to learn new behaviors. Corrections can be done through fair education of what you expect and simple removal of things they desire. Harsh treatment towards any dog will result in removal from the class.

This class is only for active students that are signed up for an obedience class. This class is offered in the evenings 3-4 times times per month (dates vary) and every Tuesday at 2:00pm. Click on the Drop In class on our website to see the available schedule and get signed up. The cost is $15 to register for a Drop In! Drop In classes are only for obedience class makeups. Unfortunately there are no makeups for the sports classes, specialty classes or Reactive Rover. If you'd like to makeup for those missed classes you must sign up for a private session.
Unfortunately, there are no makeup classes for non-obedience classes. If you want to do a makeup for the non-obedience classes a private session will have to be scheduled.
Yes!!! If we have never met you or your dog before and you would like to sign up for a more advanced training class simply contact us and we can schedule a free evaluation to see if your dog can test into the more advanced class.
This class is limited to 5 dogs. Each dog/handler team will have a barricaded work station so the dogs will not be able to see each other. You will come out one at a time to work on your dog's reactivity. You may be required to sign up for the Reactive Rover Prep class if your dog has not taken a class with us before. In order to take the Reactive Rover class your dog must have basic knowledge of Watch Me, Leave It, Find It and Touch (come touch my hand). These skills are introduced in the Prep class. This class will always be available one week before the Reactive Rover class begins. The Prep class also allows us to see if your dog is able to focus in this kind of environment. Even though your dog will not be able to see the other dogs in the class they can hear and smell them. They will be aware that other dogs are in the room. For some dogs this might be very intense and over stimulating which could reduce their ability to focus and perform the work. If this is the case we can discus private sessions.
All group classes are an hour long.
All of our classes are listed on our group class page. Each class is between 4-8 weeks long and the price listed is for the entirety of the class, not per session.
We need to get a history of your dogs behaviors, discus your training goals and observe your dogs behavior. Consults also include a training session.
Consults are 2 hours for Behavior Modification and 90 minutes for Obedience. All follow up sessions are an hour. NoseWork Privates are 30min.
We start a new Agility Foundations I class about 2 times per year.
You will be allowed to join the Fun Run Agility class. This is for our more advanced students and we will be performing more advanced courses and more advanced handling will introduced depending on you and your dogs skill level. This class is offered as a package or as a drop in.
Advanced NoseWork has an optional subscription program! Save $10 off of a 4 week set of classes. This will auto renew every 4 weeks for 3 cycles.
